BRENTA DOLOMITES (Natural Park)

Trekking for 7 days in the Dolomites of Brenta, the most western group of Dolomia in the Italian Alps. Placed not far from Verona International Airport and Garda lake. This group is not very big and in one week you can walk all around it; see its huge rocky picks, walk at their feet and even through them, stay in all of its comfortable Alpine huts, walk among forests, small glaciers and even a small bite of "ferrata".

All of the huts are very comfortable and the classic food "minestrone and spaghetti" are at home, as well as "beef", "deer with polenta" and many more typical Italian food and wine.

It is proposed from Sundays to Saturdays, from June the 15th to September the 15th (Huts opening time).

It might also be possible to hike until the end of November (a bit harder but…), sleeping in the winter refuge and with little changing (food has to be carried, sleeping bag is not necessary).

DATES:   7 days from June 12th to September 20th

THE TOUR, DAY BY DAY:

1) Sunday    Meeting in Madonna di Campiglio at the hotel. Sightseeing around the Valley, its woods, lakes, best views. For a good warm-up before the trek. Night in Hotel at Madonna di Campiglio

2) Monday   M. di Campiglio(mt 1737), Val Gelada, Rif. Graffer (mt 2261 - Night) (5-6 hours walk; 900 mts up, 400 mts down) Nice walk in a lonely valley, that will smoothly take us in the middle of Brenta.

3) Tuesday    Rif. Graffer (mt 2261), V.Perse - Rif. Selvata (mt 1631 -night) (5-6 h; 450mts up, 1300 mts down) It is probably the hardest day of the tour. During the way to the Pass we shall step on a little easy glaciers (no crampons are needed), but the way down to the Perse valley is the more demanding bit, since long and wild.

4) Wednesday    Rif Selvata.(mt 1631), V. delle Seghe, Rif. Agostini (2410mt -night) (5-6 h.; 900 mts up, 100 mts down) Beautiful walk among some of the highest faces of the group and under the highest top of all: the Cima Tosa.

5) Thursday   Rif. Agostini (2410mt), Rif XII Apostoli (2488 mt- night) (3-4 h.; 480 mts up ,500 mts down) The shortest but most "interesting" day of the tour. We shall experience a short bit of "via ferrata", that include the use of fixed cable and iron ladders placed on the rock (Although the little scrambling, there are no particular difficulties to overtake neither equipment to bring. Harnesses will be provided by us)

6) Friday   Rif. XII Apostoli (2488 mt, V. Brenta Alta, Rif Alimonta (2580 mt -night) ( 5-6 h; 500 mts up, 400 mts down) Beautiful day around Crozzon del Brenta and Cima Tosa. There will be a short bit an the glaciers of "Camosci" (no crampons are needed)

7) Saturday    Rif. Alimonta (2580 mt), Rif Brentei, M. di Campiglio (1737 mt) (4-5 hours; 850 mts down). Goodbye by lunch. End of the trip We shall walk our way out from this beautiful dolomite group throughout all kind of landscape: From the glaciers, at which foot lay the last hut where we slept, through the rocky dolomites to the pine forest. Then we shall pass under the biggest "spring" waterfall we have ever seen; tons of water coming out right from the rock into a big fall, and finally a beautiful pine and fags-tree forest will take us out to Campiglio.
