THE BEST DOLOMITES PINNACLES
(climbing from grade IV UIAA)
Pinnacles, towers, cigars...
The best shaped mountains of the Dolomites following the best climbing routes for your capabilities. Most of them have "Normal routes" around grade III & IV UIAA and the hardest routes can reach grade 7a (Fr. Scale)
Protection is mostly with normal pitons or nuts (bolts are sometimes placed on belays).
Rock is dolomia (a kind of limestone), mostly good, well shaped and with many good hand and foothold, very vertical and exposed. Climbing is very beautiful, technical, with good handholds and good use of feet, most of the time vertical. Very changeable: chimney, crags, vertical slab, small little roof or short overhang. Way down is usually rappelling.
Huts are at a short distance. From these we can often reach more then one pinnacle.
Best period is from June 15th to September 15th (Huts opening time). The eager beaver can try it the month before and after (sleeping in winter Refugio, with beds and blankets but no hotel services.)
Departure on request.
