Early morning on the Bosse Ridge, Mt Blanc 4'807m.
Picture taken with Ace Cain in 1990
This picture became the logo for Adventures to the Edge, an international guide service.
This picture gives me this great feeling for that special time of
day when the sun slowly creeps upon the night. |

As a Swiss mountain guide I regularly train in all aspect of our profession.
Last year we practiced many types of rescue scenarios including this helicopter rescue of a chair lift.
It requires a lot of dexterity from the pilot and great team work from all, the guide, the mechanic.
In many cases this technique is used on cliffs to help stranded climbers |
 |
 |
Notice how close the pilot is bringing the helicopter to the cable, an enduring exercise requiring a lot of control and concentration.
This helicopter is part of the REGA fleet. The Swiss rescue association.

An old picture of Pierre - Alain during a first winter ascent we did in 1975.
We train hard, we were very young and needed challenge
As we traversed the "Arete Vierge" we ended late and had to abandon our ropes in the last rappel, frozen solid and not sliding thru the ring of the piton.

I remember so well that morning on the way to climb the Dent Du Geant,
the sun rising and lighting the south face of Mt Blanc with this awesome cloud |

November 2001, Jose and I decided to climb Altar a volcano situated in the southern part
of Ecuador on the edge of the Amazon Jungle.
The intense light and constant change in weather made it a perfect adventure.
