Adventures to the Edge home and office team:
The team has expanded with a new office manager: Debbie Davies from Lakewood Colorado. Trying to do the office work as well as guiding did not prove to be the best solution. Debbie will handle all requests, booking, and keeping communication with me as to answers to your questions and designing custom tours. Tom Torkelson is also joining forces to expand programs and to share more great adventures. Kira is still the webmaster with a new baby boy "Tate", Tim is our computer doctor, Mimi takes care of the accounting and Nicole is our correspondent in Leysin Switzerland.
This winter we experienced great conditions and good snow. I worked several AMGA ski guide courses in Jackson and Aspen, ski toured in the front range and Elk Mountains and as always it was just fantastic. I spent more time working for the American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education, developing new avalanche awareness programs for teenagers. Check our work and progress at: www.avtraining.org
Techniques and Tricks
As the ski touring season in the Alps approaches as well as the summer, remind yourself of the different techniques needed! Such as the pulley system. Keep it simple, 3:1 or 6:1 anything else has too much friction in a improvise situation and require too much gear. Bring along at least one, 18 foot long cordelette 7 mm. 2 prussicks, 3 locking carabiners.
Garda knot a good trick
As an autoblock system, try the Garda knot. It requires two similar carabiners. It locks super well but is not releasable.

COMING UP SOON:
Ski touring in the Alps: Cedric Mt guide from Chateau D'oex spend half the winter in Canmore, Canada ice climbing and skiing and now is back and ready to lead the Chamonix-Zermatt haute route.
Patou Mountain Guide and snow safety director for the Leysin ski resort, will lead tours in the Berner Oberland.

This summer we have added some new programs:
In collaboration with Western State College of Colorado we are offering an ASPIRANT GUIDE TRAINING COURSE IN SWITZERLAND: 22 days across the Alps. Covering aspects of snow, rock and ice climbing, leadership, decision making, and risk management. To sign up contact WSC and receive a CD containing a power point presentation and forms. Adventures to the Edge has teamed up with Tom Torkelson of vision quest journey to offer more destinations (Tom and I have climbed and worked together for the last 10 years).
We are offering new Peru climbs and treks, Patagonia treks, Nepal climbs and treks.
Muztagh Ata:
7550 meter, 25,000 feet . June 10 - July 10, 2006 the father of ice as it is called. This exceptional mountain location in the xianxiang region of China offers a true opportunity to experience the magic world of high altitude, expedition and culture. It is a perfect ski tour as the mountain is not so steep.
As always we invite you to join us for a climb: Matterhorn, Mt Blanc, Aconcagua.
July, August, September: Matterhorn
From November: Aconcagua, see new schedule.
Looking back:
Christmas 1976. first winter ascent of the Sunrise pillar on Mt Collon , Switzerland. Pierre - Alain and I spend 3 days, 2 bivouacs to tackle this great climb. I tried myself at black&white photography with a 35mm Kodak camera.
