Ski touring in the Alps is going to be awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This winter I have spent a fair amount of time training mountain guides. I taught a guide course in Chile
introducing all 3 disciplines, worked on a ski guide course in Jackson Hole Wyoming- enjoying some incredible
powder, and a ski guide course in Crested Butte.
Training mountain Guides in Chile
A few weeks ago I climbed in Ecuador with a great team: John, Bradley, Dave, Don, Sid, Charles and
Jaime as the second guide.
First we tackled Iliniza Sur at 17,268 ft. It gave us a perfect way to
acclimatize and practice different ice climbing techniques. We then went on to climb
Chimborazo at 20,703 ft., but rough icy conditions made us turn around on the ridge.
This didn’t stop the team to experience more thrills and they mountain biked, bungee jumped in banos before returning to Quito. Photos to be posted on the web soon!!!!
WHAT IS COMING UP:
In few weeks I will be climbing Marmolejo 20,039 ft. in Chile with our famous father-daughter team and friend: Richard, Jill and Dan.
Lou Kasischke and I will be meeting somewhere in the Colorado to test some gear before the Berner Oberland ski tour coming this spring.
My ski touring program is busy and I invite you to join us if you can:
March: Ski touring in the Dolomites, Hines extreme team
April 2 - 12: Berner Oberland Haute Route with Tom Biery and team

JEAN
Greetings from snowy Crested Butte!!
I am Jean's webmaster and newsletter e-mailer. On wednesday, I enjoyed a guided tour of "Red Lady" above the town of Crested Butte. It was a beautiful snowy day and great practice for me as I train for the Haute Route this spring. If you havn't been to Crested Butte, Colorado - maybe this photo will inspire you. It is just one of many great backcountry locations in the area. Hope everyone is out enjoying the snow this winter!!
