COTOPAXI-CHIMBORAZO TOUR

Ecudor Mountaineering Tour
Illiniza 17,219 ft. - Cotopaxi 19,348 ft. - Chimborazo 20,703 ft.

Whimper with Jean-Antoine and Louis Carrel climbed ten peaks including Chimborazo and Cotopaxi, from the 3rd of November 1879 until the 8th of July 1880. They did most of them in a light expedition style. It is possible today to follow in these footsteps. Most peaks are climbed in one long day from base camp. For a long time the Chimborazo was considered the highest mountain in the world. It has lost this pretension but it still remains the highest mountain when measured from the center of the earth.

This tour will give you a good sense of high altitude climbing, while traveling in a great country, and visiting a different culture. It is not a full-on expedition since access to the mountains are very easy and huts provide a much higher level of comfort. The small size of the country makes it very easy to travel from mountain to mountain in a short time. Ecuador, like Switzerland allows easy access to the mountains. Great transportation system, nice lodges and huts for all tastes.

This is one of my favorite places to visit and every year I make a point to climb several of these beautiful mountains. I would like to invite you to join me.
